The soft embrace of the swamp invites you to experience nature in a different way - sensing, breathing, slowing down.
The tour immerses you in the soundscape of the swamp and its unique atmosphere and stories. Walk on the watery earth, stopping to feel and hear.
Along the way, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch inspired by the spirit of the bog - flavours that are at once soft, refreshing and natural.
In the evening, continue the pampering in the sauna with a peat treatment that nourishes the skin and the mind.
At the dinner table, the deep tones of the marsh meet the subtle harmony of northern ingredients.
You will stay at Karkausmäki Kammar, a cosy log house where time slows down and the rush disappears. In the evenings you can curl up under a warm blanket and let the silence lull you to sleep.

The easiest way to reach us is by your own car. From Pihtipudas, Viitasaari and Perho you can get to the bigger towns by bus. If needed, we can help you arrange a ride from nearby towns. Transportation available for additional cost.

Behind the experience - Three women, one heart.
When you walk through the door of Karkausmäki Guesthouse, you are greeted by Jenni, the heart of the place and hostess of the inn. She will make sure that you are comfortable and well rested - clean, fresh sheets are waiting for you in bed, the sauna heats up at the right moment, and the atmosphere is just as it should be: warm, unhurried and cosy.
The flavours that delight your senses are created by Marja, the skilful hostess of Pikkupeura Game Restaurant. She prepares her carefully thought-out meals with pure ingredients from the local area - every mouthful carries with it the bounty of nature and a touch of tradition. The food is not just a stomach-filler, but part of the story of the experience.
And when it's time to get out into nature, Marja, the Löytöläntytär, will lead you on a journey. She knows the forest, the swamp, the water and the sky in depth - and most importantly, she knows how to tell their stories. Her experiential and storytelling excursions are not just walks in nature, but deep journeys into the senses, traditions and stopping in the moment.
Together, the three women create an experience where everything has been carefully thought out, but the atmosphere remains genuinely relaxed and natural. When you come here, you don't have to worry about anything - you just breathe, taste, listen and feel.
