When you walk through the door of Karkausmäki Guesthouse, you are greeted by Jenni, the heart of the place and hostess of the inn. She'll make sure you're comfortable and well rested - clean, fresh sheets are waiting for you in bed, the sauna heats up at just the right moment, and the atmosphere is exactly as it should be: warm, unhurried and cosy.
The flavours that delight your senses are created by Marja, the skilful hostess of Pikkupeura Game Restaurant. She prepares her carefully thought-out meals with pure ingredients from the local area - every mouthful carries with it the bounty of nature and a touch of tradition. The food is not just a stomach-filler, but part of the story of the experience.
And when it's time to get out into nature, Marja, the Löytöläntytär, will lead the way. She knows the forest, the swamp, the water and the sky in depth - and most importantly, she knows how to tell their stories. Her experiential and storytelling excursions are not just walks in nature, but deep journeys into the senses, traditions and stopping in the moment.
Together, the three of them create an experience where everything has been carefully thought out, but the atmosphere remains genuinely relaxed and natural. When you come here, you don't have to worry about anything - you just breathe, taste, listen and feel.
